Hysteria
Things are rather chaotic on the film set where a film is being made about the racially motivated arson attack in Solingen in 1993. Matters really get out of hand when a few extras, who have come from a refugee centre, discover that a Koran has gone up in flames during the re-enactment of the fire. It is mainly 24-year-old intern Elif, the second assistant director, who has to deal with the fallout, as director Yiğit is away for a few days. Elif is increasingly drawn into a dangerous game of secrets and lies. What actually happened? Everyone involved has a different version of events.
In his second film, director Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay not only offers a sharp critique of the many prejudices that exist within our society, but also provides a new perspective on the stories of migrants. And he does so in a compelling and extremely gripping manner. The German-Turkish actress Devrim Lingnau plays the lead role in this thriller.
