What happens to your toys when you leave the room? Ever since Toy Story, we’ve known that they come to life the moment you turn your back. In the earlier films, Woody, Buzz and their friends were always there for their child, no matter how the situation changed. In this new adventure, their role is once again under pressure, as traditional play clashes with an increasingly digital world.

When Bonnie, now a little older than in Toy Story 4, gets a new tablet (Lilypad), everything changes. The device seems to know exactly what’s best for her, thereby sidelining the toys. Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest must figure out if there is still a place for them, whilst the influence of technology continues to grow. With voices from Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, among others, this adventure feels just as familiar to those who grew up with these characters as it does to those meeting them for the first time.
