Babyteeth
One day, 16-year-old Milla comes home with her new boyfriend: 23-year-old Moses. Unemployed, with unkempt looks, and dealing drugs, Moses is hardly the perfect suitor. But then he actually also is the perfect boyfriend, as Milla has cancer and he is the one who manages to bring her joy and zest for life again. Normally her parents would have shown him the door, now they ignore every rule of pedagogy and just let their daughter be. While the parents are already deeply mourning the impending loss of their daughter, Milla flings herself into life and love without restraint.
In her first-time feature, Australian director Shannon Murphy (Killing Eve) manages to strike the perfect balance between humour and drama, presenting a moving story told in colourful images of unconditional love, helplessness and determination. With intense acting by Eliza Scanlen as Milla and Toby Wallace as Moses. Awarded in Venice and more.
The film will be introduced by film critic Hugo Emmerzael (de Filmkrant). Take note: this introduction will be in Dutch.
