Salam’s (Kais Nashif) uncle got him a job at the espionage-themed soap opera Tel Aviv on Fire. The show is about a Palestinian female spy who starts an affair with a Jewish general, while also in a relationship with a resistance fighter. The Palestinian series is also popular among Jewish viewers, including the wife of the soldier who mans the checkpoint that Salam passes each day on his way to the studio in Ramallah. In exchange for free passage, the man starts to make extreme demands about the plot, just to please his wife.
