Tout s'est bien passé

After a stroke, André, 85, ends up in hospital. When he wakes up, his two daughters take care of him. Before his stroke, André was full of life, curious and passionate. But his new situation, in which he has to go through life half-paralysed and dependent, is not at all bearable for him. He wants to die and asks his daughter Emmanuelle for help. His wish sets off a chain reaction of questions and emotions.

French director François Ozon is known for his versatility: from his light-hearted films like Potiche and Huit Femmes, to his serious dramas like Grâce à dieu. In Tout s'est bien passé, Ozon is just as playful as he is serious: in a bearable lightness, he tells a story with a weighty subject. A story without great emotions, but with observed small moments that show the versatility of family relationships. Superb performances by top actors such as Sophie Marceau, André Dussollier and Charlotte Rampling.
