Silence of the Tides
Magnificent sunsets, a diverse animal kingdom and landscapes that change twice a day: the Wadden Sea region is an extremely photogenic place. Director Pieter-Rim de Kroon knows how to visualise the largest intertidal area in the world in a breathtaking way. In Silence of the Tides, we see animals, people and tides pass the camera without comment, while the four seasons come and go.
Silence of the Tides is a dazzlingly beautiful portrait of pulsating nature, inviting viewers to search for associations and meaning. Just as in Hollands Licht, with which he won a Golden Calf in 2003, Pieter-Rim de Kroon often places his camera in one fixed spot for a long time, which results in enchanting nature scenes.
