Riders of Justice
The emotionally blocked Danish soldier Markus is dealt a huge blow when his wife dies in a catastrophic train accident. But was it really an accident? One day, Otto and Lennart, two eccentric statisticians, show up at his doorstep and tell him that the train accident was part of a bizarre plot to kill someone on the train. The grieving Markus allows himself to be convinced by them and decides that it is time for retribution. The eccentric Emmenthaler joins the three and together they embark on a mission of revenge.
What is the meaning of life - especially in times of need - does coincidence perhaps have a meaning after all, why do things happen? These are the questions that Danish director/screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen (Adam's Apples and Men & Chicken, among others) raises in his new film. He does so with a lot of black humour, absurdist plot twists and inimitable logic. Top Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen plays Markus. Opening film IFFR 2021.
