"Without Mister we'd probably no longer be together." Patricia is referring to the dog that wakes her husband at night when his nightmares take him back to the war in Afghanistan. Thanks to Mister, veteran Trevor's marriage with Patricia is still intact and Trevor can be a father for his children again.

In Buddy, Heddy Honigmann tells the story of six extraordinary dogs that are indispensable for their owners. They are specially trained to assist them in lives that are not always easy. Thanks to their dog's incredible skills they are however as independent as possible. Kaiko and Erna, Utah and Zeb, Missy and Hans, Kay and Annebel, Makker and Edith — they are all inseparable. Buddy is an ode to the fighting spirit of the main characters and offers a loving portrait of the deep bond between man and dog.
