Come to the very first Moluccan film festival in the Netherlands! Cinema Maluku is a film festival that brings to life the shared journey, history and identity of the Moluccan community in the Netherlands. Through films, documentaries, workshops and Q&As with filmmakers, the festival provides a platform for Moluccan voices, stories and perspectives past and present.
The screenings, Q&A's and other parts of the program will be available in Dutch or with Dutch subtitles.
Cinema Maluku 2025
Rialto and Cinema De Vlugt are proud to present Cinema Maluku 2025, a program created in collaboration with Stichting Maluku Amsterdam and the Maluku Museum in The Hague. It will take place at Rialto De Pijp and Cinema De Vlugt from May 30th till June 1st.
The central theme of this festival is PUSAKA: heritage. Not only in the form of tangible memories or traditions, but also as the values, stories and resilience passed on from generation to generation. With a diverse and inspiring program, Cinema Maluku encourages visitors to reflect on the impact of migration, the power of memory and the search for recognition and healing. Here, suitcases are not only unpacked but refilled with insights, dialogue and connection.
