This autumn break, Rialto De Pijp is the perfect place for a cozy family cinema outing. On the program are two special family films that will move both young and old – full of dance, adventure and imagination.
Dancing Queen in Hollywood
Norwegian director Aurora Gossé won over audiences last year with Dancing Queen. In her new film Dancing Queen in Hollywood, she continues the story of 14-year-old Mina, who, together with her dance partner Markus, wins a competition and gets to travel to Los Angeles to appear in the music video of a famous artist. A dream come true – until Mina learns her parents might be getting divorced.
A joyful and energetic film about friendship, resilience and finding your own rhythm.
And on Sunday afternoon, October 19, dancing won’t just happen on screen: before the screening, the young dancers of Dans Dansen will perform live, and afterwards the audience is welcome to take to the dance floor themselves!

Koning van de Zwervers
Eleven-year-old Meissy hasn’t seen her father Tom in years and is thrilled when he suddenly shows up again. Her mother, however, isn’t as happy – perhaps because Tom is homeless. Meissy secretly visits him and becomes enchanted by his colorful street life, full of imagination and special encounters. But little by little, she discovers why her mother wanted to keep her away: Tom suffers from hallucinations and delusions of grandeur.
Director Janne Schmidt tells a tender father-daughter story that balances fantasy and reality in a touching way. Serious themes such as mental health and parental love are handled with warmth and sensitivity, brought to life by Niyara da Rocha Pereira and Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen.
