On Saturday December 13, UNMASKED dives into the world of bubbling and dancehall – two explosive, high-energy cultures that celebrate female strength and self-expression. For this edition, filmmaker and guest curator Sharine Rijsenburg brings together an evening full of rhythm, visuals, and movement.
The programme features two films: Bubbling Baby, Rijsenburg’s own documentary exploring the roots and power of bubbling, and Bruk Out!, a dazzling look at the international dancehall scene.
After the films, join a panel talk hosted by Zoë van der Kust, delving deeper into the themes of the evening.
Then the night continues on the dance floor with infectious bubbling beats.
Meanwhile, discover the Bubbling Baby Expo – a photo exhibition featuring works by Catrien Ariëns, Helen King, and Nadine Jongeling, curated by Rijsenburg and designed by Vivian Steffinga. Previously shown at MOMO Festival in Rotterdam, the expo now travels to Amsterdam for this special edition of UNMASKED.
