This weekend, what no one saw coming happened: the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad fell after 24 years. Rebels swiftly took the cities of Aleppo, Homs, Hama and Damascus, seemingly ending this dictator's repression. How things continue in Syria is still uncertain. At the moment, joy prevails among many because of Assad's exit.
In recent years, important documentaries have been made about the situation in Syria, films that clearly show the human rights situation in the country.
Because of current developments, Rialto is screening two of these extraordinary and courageous productions, made under very difficult circumstances at the time: For Sama and 5 Seasons of Revolution.
