Since its founding in 2003, CinemAsia Film Festival’s mission has been to bring together stories from across Asia and its diaspora in order to build a shared connection through cinema. CinemAsia aims to foster an inclusive society by enriching the public discourse on Asian culture through an intersection between Asian cinema, popular media, and community building. Ultimately, bridging the gap between communities worldwide. This makes finding common ground essential.
But how do we find connection as human beings in a world that feels increasingly disconnected and divided? How do we reconnect and bridge the distance between ourselves? In a world where visible and invisible borders are increasingly felt, CinemAsia centers its programme on the theme commons: shared ground, shared histories, and shared humanity. Through cinema as a space of encounter, the festival brings together perspectives across cultures, generations, and lived experiences.
In times plagued with global tensions and catastrophe, differences might be the only thing heavily felt. However, CinemAsia invites you to rediscover our common ground with a curated programme of over 40 films that demonstrate how shared humanity emerges through stories, shared spaces, and enduring relationships. It is time to rediscover our shared capacity for love and tenderness. So, let’s come closer to explore and share the common love for cinema and bring together the richness of cultural diversity of Amsterdam and beyond.
