Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman

In 2006, Blind willow, sleeping woman was published, a collection of short stories by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. It is a series of enchanting stories in which the line between dream and reality can never be clearly drawn. Composer and filmmaker Pierre Földes was given permission by the writer to forge six of those stories into one to depict it with all kinds of different animation techniques into a magical-realist world that breathes Murakami in everything.

In 2011, Japan's Tōhoku region is hit by an earthquake and a tsunami. In Tokyo, Kyoko, after apathetically watching the news on TV for five days, decides to leave her husband Komura. At first he is left listless, but then, at the request of a colleague, travels to Hoikaido with a black box. There, he embarks on a search for his wife's missing cat. Meanwhile, accountant Katagiri is warned of an even worse earthquake by a giant frog.
