Sundown
The carefree vacation of wealthy Brit Neil Bennett and his family at a luxurious Mexican resort is brutally disrupted by a fateful phone call. Due to a death in the family, the party must return to London immediately. Neil doesn't get on a plane, however: he stays in a budget hotel, drinks beer on the beach and thinks up all sorts of reasons not to return home. What is going on here?
Nothing is what it seems in Sundown, the latest film from Mexican director Michel Franco. Tim Roth and Charlotte Gainsbourg play the leading roles in this original and mysterious drama, which is full of unexpected twists. Sundown is a penetrating, engaging study of class inequality and family secrets - a theme he previously explored in After Lucia, which won him the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes in 2012.
