Laura
Detective Mark McPherson is investigating the brutal murder of Laura Hunt, a highly successful advertising executive, whose face is damaged beyond recognition. He first confronts Waldo Lydecker, a smug newspaper columnist who considered Laura his protégé. He also speaks with Shelby Carpenter, Laura's fiancé and a no-good playboy. While learning more about Laura, McPherson becomes increasingly obsessed with her. One night he falls asleep in her apartment. Awakening to the sound of someone entering the room, he makes a staggering discovery.
As in any good film noir, the contrast between light and dark plays an important role in Laura. Cameraman Joseph LaShelle won an Oscar for Best Cinematography, Black-and-White. Starring Dana Andrews as detective Mark McPherson, falling in love with a dead woman, and Gene Tierney as Laura Hunt. Also starring Vincent Price.
