Böse Spiele Rimini Sparta

Six years ago, Ulrich Seidl embarked on a major project he titled Böse Spiele; a story about three men and how mistakes made in the past can change lives forever. Two films emerged from this project in 2022: Rimini and Sparta, which centre on the lives of two brothers trying to find salvation abroad - without much success. But Seidl nevertheless completed the project by uniting the two films in a new montage and adding the story of their elderly father. The result is a monumental work (for its length alone) about a world full of disillusionment and hopelessness, but told with understanding and compassion.

In the Italian seaside resort of Rimini, the once successful schlager singer Richie Bravo makes a living by performing for elderly tourists, but also by prostituting himself. His brother Ewald lives in somewhere Romania. This engineer tries with all his might to suppress his paedophile tendencies, but is not too successful in doing so. With dire consequences. Meanwhile, their demented father languishes in a care home in their hometown. All he can remember are the Nazi songs he had to learn as a child. And he still sings them.
