Onder de blote hemel

Ten-year-old Elvie (Ylse Ringeling) lives with her mentally challenged mother Emma (Rifka Lodeizen) on a campsite in the middle of nature. The naive but loving Emma often struggles to understand others. While summer is in full swing at the campsite, things are brewing between mother and daughter. Elvie has now reached the age where she begins to understand the world better than her mother, and this creates uncomfortable situations. When grandpa Bucko (Johan Leysen), the lynchpin of the family, develops health problems, Elvie and Emma become even more dependent on each other. Grandpa's absence creates major tensions and shakes up their isolated world.

In 2018, Lilian Sijbesma was awarded the Visser-Neerlandia Prize for Scenario for her screenplay for Onder de blote hemel. The jury judged, " By far the screenplay with the most psychological depth." She has now filmed her own screenplay, resulting in a deeply emotional story about loneliness and frustration, but also about love and trust.
