Gloria Bell
In the summer of 2013, Rialto's film festival World Cinema Amsterdam concluded with a screening of Gloria by Chilean director Sebastián Lelio – a tragicomedy with a scintillating Paulina García in the title role, which earned her a Silver Bear at that year's Berlinale. Now Lelio has remade his own film, this time in an American setting with an American cast. When asked why he answered: "Because of my admiration for Julianne Moore." In this near identical version, Moore plays Gloria.
Gloria Bell is approaching 60, but she is far from old and washed up. During the day she works in the office, at night she can be found on the dance floors of various Los Angeles clubs. Here she hopes to find the love of her life one day. And sure enough: she meets Arnold (John Turturro). Her single days seem to have come to an end. But how do you do that, build a new relationship? With joie de vivre and fearlessness!
