Nyad
60-year-old Diana Nyad was once a marathon swimmer, but that is 30 years behind her. After ending her swimming career, she became a successful sports journalist. But one swimming dream has never left her mind: swimming from Cuba to Florida, a distance of over 110 nautical miles (177 km), the 'Mount Everest' among swimming trips. She wants to be the first to swim the trip without a cage to protect her from the many sharks swimming around. With the help of her best friend and coach Bonnie Stoll, she begins the preparation. Four years later, the time has come.
American directors Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, among others) and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, it is her directorial debut, tell the true story of a human being performing a well-nigh impossible physical feat, a story of dedication, courage and perseverance, based on Nyad's memoir Find a Way. The lead roles are played by Annette Bening and Jodie Foster.
