Saloum
Chaka, Rafa and Minuit are known as the Hyenas of Bangui, three elite African mercenaries hired to get Mexican drug lord Felix out of the town of Bissau in Guinea-Bissau during the 2003 coup. In exchange for a bag full of gold, they must take him to Senegal's Dakar. On the way, sabotage of the plane forces them to land in Sine-Saloum, a remote region of Senegal. Not only must they stay out of the hands of the police, but they must also look for resources to repair the plane. The three Hyenas and the drug lord end up at a resort near the Saloum Delta. There they meet owner Omar, artists Younce and Sephora, the mute Awa and Souley, a policeman from Dakar. Relations between them are strained, but things get much worse...
In his second feature, co-written by himself, Congolese director Jean Luc Herbulot shows he knows how to link socio-political issues with elements of the thriller and horror genre in a very sophisticated and exciting way.
The film will be introduced by theatre maker and performer Myra Fanta Bodian and content creator and Senegal expert Khady Postma.
