Challengers
Once a top tennis player, a lingering injury ended Tashi Duncan's career. Now she is the coach of her husband Art, a former tennis champion who has not won a match in ages. To get his career back on track, she enrols him in a Challenger Event, where he has to compete against the downtrodden Patrick Zweig. Patrick was not only Art's best friend, he is also Tashi's ex-lover and this creates tension. Tashi has to seriously ask herself what she is willing to do to win this match.
The lead role in this romantic sports drama is played by Zendaya, an actress who is enjoying a stormy career in recent years with lead roles in Dune (Part One and Part Two) and Spider Man: No Way Home, among others. The credits also list her as producer, while Luca Guadagnino, best known for the critically acclaimed Call Me By Your Name, is responsible for directing.
