Sometimes I Think About Dying
Fran is a real ‘grey mouse’ - she is very good at Excel, but otherwise her office colleagues know next to nothing about her; she is shy, introverted and never really talks to anyone. She prefers to muse about death and hide in her own safe inner world. One day, a new colleague, Robert, arrives and he actually manages to make her laugh. They even make a date outside work, and one more. There is only one thing standing in the way of a romance: Fran herself.
Director Rachel Lambert based the screenplay, a tale of social anxiety, on Stefanie Abel Horowitz's 2019 eponymous short film. The lead role is played by British actress Daisy Ridley, best known for her role as Rey in a trio of Star War films. And she does so with verve: especially with her facial expressions, she perfectly portrays the taciturn Fran with nuance and depth. Dave Merheje plays Robert.
