The Apprentice
In the 1970s, a young, strikingly coiffed man from New York is about to break through in the world of real estate: Donald Trump. But that didn't come easily, as the family business, the Trump Organisation, is in dire straits. Then Roy Cohn appears on the scene, an experienced and shrewd lawyer, who helps the company out of trouble on behalf of the young Trump. Cohn turns out to be the mentor who teaches Trump all about business, making lots of money and gaining power. Cohn is cold, tough and ruthless, but at the same time very successful, everything Trump also wants to be. As a result, he will never leave Cohn's side. During these years, he also gets to know his later wife Ivana.
Director Ali Abbasi, known for Gräns and Holy Spider, portrays the young years of the future US president as a time where decadence, corruption and deceit reign supreme. Sebastian Stan plays the young Trump with verve, but it is still Jeremy Strong who steals show with his portrayal of the cunning Roy Cohn.
