Even Dwarfs Started Small

When two actors injured themselves on the set of this bizarre, controversial cult film, Herzog made a remarkable promise: if the whole cast made it through the rest of filming without any more injuries he would jump into a cactus patch. The film was finished without further accidents and Herzog followed up on his painful promise, later stating: "Getting out was a lot more difficult than jumping in."

A group of dwarfs is confined in an institution on a remote island. The rules they must adhere to, enforced by guards and the director, are strict and harsh. One day, the dwarfs rebel, big time. Soon there is complete chaos and anarchy: windows, dishes, glasses are shattered, flowers go up in flames, they kill a pig, organize cockfights, and so on. At first the dwarfs are having a field day, but as things progress the mood gradually becomes uglier.
