Son hasat

In a small village in Turkish Anatolia, surrounded by a large lake and vast reed fields, live Ali and his wife Aysel. Ali tries to make a living as a reed cutter, but it is not easy. In fact, he refuses to submit to the extortion of the criminal Yahya and his gang, who demand a share of his earnings. That resistance has added to his poverty and thus taken a toll on his marriage. Ali tries to hide from the gang to cut reed unseen anyway, but fails; what he has harvested is destroyed. Aysel, meanwhile, has given up and gone to work for the gang. But when one of Yahya's faithful is killed, everything changes.

That director Cemil Agacikoglu is not only a director but also a photographer is evident in the claustrophobic way he depicts the reed fields, a metaphor for life in a suffocating environment from which there is no escape.
