In Tunisia, Riadh, played equally impressively and subdued by actor Mohamed Dhrif, worries about his 19-year-old son Sami. Sami's final exams are coming up, but the boy is assailed by migraines. After an extensive search, Riadh finds a drug that helps his son get better. Then suddenly Sami disappears, leaving behind a short note in which he explains that he has travelled to Syria to join a jihadi group. Riadh refuses to accept this and does everything he can to get his son back, regardless of the disastrous financial costs. He and his wife weren’t very well off to begin with.
Director Mohamed Ben Attia's, who made his feature debut three years ago with Hedi, accurately depicts in this new film, co-produced by the Dardenne brothers, the social context in which boys like Sami are pushed into the arms of extremist movements.
