In 2015, Dutch director Sam de Jong made his feature debut with the teenage drama Prins. The film received several awards, also at the Dutch Film Festival and the Berlinale. His new film, Goldie, is an entirely American production with well-known model Slick Woods in the lead.
18-year-old Goldie (Woods) from the Bronx, New York, has one big ambition: breaking through in the entertainment industry as a hip-hop dancer. Things are looking good, she has been promised a role in rapper Tiny's clip. All she needs to do is send in an audition video. Her underage half-sisters Supreme and Sherrie agree to help her. But then everything goes wrong: Goldie loses her job at a department store and to make matters worse, the police arrest her mother. More than ever she needs money, mainly to keep her half-sisters out of the hands of child services. Still, no matter how big the setbacks are, Goldie will not be discouraged.
