I Don't Wanna Dance
15-year-old Joey and his younger brother have lived with their aunt for two years, their mother Daphne had been unable to take care of the two boys. Much to their joy, they now have moved back in with their mother. At first, everything goes well: things at home are up and running, Daphne has found a job, Joey joins a nice dance group. When Daphne falls into her old patterns of behaviour, things go wrong however; Joey has to do everything to keep youth care away, at the expense of his own happiness. How long can he keep this up?
Director Flynn von Kleist based the story on the life of Yfendo van Praag, whom he followed for three years. In 2017, this resulted in a documentary, Omdat ik Yfendo heet, followed by the short film Crows Nest a year later and now a feature film, Von Kleist's first. Yfendo himself plays Joey; Daphne is played by Romana Vrede.
