Titane
The announcement of the winner of the Palme d'Or, the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, usually is a drawn-out happening slowly building up to the moment that the winning title is actually revealed. At the last edition, however, Spike Lee, the jury president, was so excited about the winning film that he called out the title right away: Titane – an original, bizarre thriller about metal and the human body, love and family; a film recalling David Cronenberg's Crash.
Dancer Alexia has a titanium plate in her head, relic of a heavy car crash she experienced as a child. She is not afraid of cars, though, quite the opposite: cars have a strong erotic attraction for her. After a series of crimes in which she was involved, she decides to do a vanishing act, assuming the identity of Adrien, the son of fire fighter Vincent Legrand who has been missing without a trace for years. Legrand welcomes her lovingly as his long-lost son.
