Licorice Pizza
California, early 1970s: at the annual school photo-shoot at his high school 15-year-old Gary Valentine meets photo assistant Alana Kane. He has an immediate crush on Alana, though she is ten years his senior. Probably due to his former experience as a child actor, Gary is a precocious teen; Alana is impressed by his self-assurance and she is eventually persuaded to go on a first date. It marks the beginning of a long, intense and eventful friendship, bordering on love.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson, known for Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Phantom Thread, wrote the script for his warm, multi-award winning comedy, set in California's San Fernando Valley, the place where he grew up himself and still lives. With excellent lead roles from debuting Cooper Hoffman (son of Philip Seymour) and Alana Hain.
