Dr. Kaveh Nariman works as a forensic pathologist in a hospital. One day he has a car accident, a motorcycle is knocked of the road and the motorcyclist's 8-year-old son is injured. Nariman offers to take the child to the hospital, but the father refuses his help. Two days later the remains of a young boy are brought in for an autopsy. Nariman recognizes the motorcyclist's son and is facing a dilemma: should he investigate whether he is responsible for the child's death or rather agree with his colleague's diagnosis that the child died of food poisoning?
This second feature by Iranian director Vahid Jalilvand, written by himself and filmed in a sober bleak colour palette, creates a build-up of suspense by introducing new twists and turns throughout. The result, a mix of drama and thriller, received awards in Venice and more.
