The Life of Chuck
The world is ravaged by catastrophic natural disasters of unprecedented magnitude and, perhaps worst of all: there is no internet anywhere. In short, the end of times has arrived. Most people have resigned themselves to it, like history teacher Marty Anderson, who, since his divorce, prefers to watch film classics by himself. Just before even television stops, he sees a commercial thanking one Charles ‘Chuck’ Kranz for ‘39 great years’. Marty has no idea who this is, but this Chuck must be important, because he really sees this thank you everywhere on banners, billboards and in shop windows. It's as if this Chuck's life is connected to the fate of the world. But how?
Director Mike Flanagan based the story of this film on Stephen King's 2020 novella of the same name, a three-episode, backwards tale of memories, personal tragedies and cosmic conundrums. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tom Hiddleston, among others.
