April

Nina works as a obstetrician in a small provincial hospital somewhere in eastern Georgia. She is very good at her job, but sometimes things just go wrong. For example, a baby boy dies during a delivery she induces, which leads to her being accused of negligence. This results in an in-depth investigation that turns her life upside down. This is particularly unpleasant for Nina, because she secretly performs abortions on women in their homes, without the men in the family knowing. When this threatens to come to light, she ends up in a downward spiral.

In her second film, Georgian director Dea Kulumbegashvili shows how a dedicated doctor has to hold her own in a cold world populated by people without any empathy. She does this with long static shots that do not hide the sometimes gruesome details of the obstetrician's practice. Starring Ia Sukhitashvili.
