A Nice Indian Boy

The gentle-mannered Indian doctor Naveen has finally found his true love: photographer Jay, a creative, humorous man, also a white man who grew up in Hindu culture, because he was adopted as a baby by an Indian couple. Then comes the day when Naveen introduces his great love to his traditional parents. Although they have accepted his sexuality, being confronted with it is a completely different story. That first meeting goes a bit awkwardly, so it remains to be seen whether Naveen and Jay's dream – a big Bollywood wedding – will come true. Moreover, what exactly is a Bolltwood wedding?

This feel-good romantic comedy, based on the eponymous play by Madhuri Shekar, is all about true love, big dreams and the search for a place where you can truly be yourself. Director Roshan Sethi, who portrays his characters with great warmth and affection, follows all the conventions of the romcom genre, but this time from a queer perspective.
