Eleanor the Great

94-year-old Eleanor Morgenstein lives with her best friend Bessie in Florida, where they lead a very pleasant life. When Bessie dies, Eleanor suddenly finds herself alone, so she moves in with her daughter and grandson in New York. But they have little time for her, so Eleanor goes in search of some company. By chance, she ends up at a support group for Holocaust survivors, where she tells a moving story about her experiences with the Nazis. Journalism student Nina is deeply impressed and wants to put Eleanor's life story on paper. However, there is a problem: Eleanor lived in the Bronx during World War II. Her story is actually that of the deceased Bessie. How will she get out of this?

Director Scarlett Johansson, best known as an actress, tells a beautiful and layered story about friendship, family and old age, and our relationship with the truth in her feature film debut. With brilliant performances by June Squibb, Rita Zohar and Erin Kellyman.
