Home Sweet Home
Home care worker Sofie visits elderly people who depend on her care every day. Her primary responsibility is their health, but some of her patients also need help with other things, while others just want someone to listen to them. She tries to help everyone as best she can, but it's not easy: she's under time pressure, and not all patients are equally cooperative. Her private life is not exactly smooth sailing either, as she is still struggling with the failure of her marriage and the hassle surrounding shared custody of her young daughter.
Director Frelle Petersen wanted to show as realistically as possible what a day in the life of a home care worker is like. To get a good idea of this himself, he spent some time working in home care under the supervision of an experienced worker. The result is a modestly told, very authentic story, where the difference between fiction and documentary is very small. With a brilliant performance by Jette Sondergaard.
