Truly Naked
At first glance, the introverted teenager Alec leads a perfectly normal life. But appearances can be deceiving, because his father is a porn film producer, and the films are shot at home – often with himself in the lead role. Alec helps his father with this as a cameraman, displaying a remarkable eye for detail. After moving house, he meets the confident and feminist Nina at his new school. He has to do a school project with her on internet porn addiction. They turn out to have quite different views on the matter, but as the project progresses, the two grow closer. Nina challenges him to explore together what real intimacy means. Sex in real life, he discovers, has little to do with what happens in his father’s films.
This feature film debut by Muriel d'Ansembourg, featuring plenty of nudity and explicit sex, is a surprisingly sensitive coming-of-age drama, carried by the excellent performances of lead actors Caolán O'Gorman and Safiya Benaddi.
