Omaha

The economic prosperity of the first decade of the 21st century turned out to have been built on quicksand, particularly in the US. When several major credit institutions there ran into difficulties in 2008, an unprecedented credit crisis erupted. For many, the consequences were devastating; numerous homeowners were no longer able to keep up with their mortgage payments and lost their homes. Omaha, the first, now multi-award-winning feature film by director Cole Webley, is set in 2008.

One morning, nine-year-old Ella (Molly Belle Wright) and her six-year-old brother Charlie (Wyatt Solis) are woken up by their single father (John Magara). He tells them they are going on a road trip through the Midwest – an exciting adventure, the two think, as they are about to discover a world they have never seen before. They leave almost everything behind; only the dog comes along. As the journey progresses, Ella begins to suspect why they have set off.
