Porte Bagage
Thirty-year-old Noor Indrissi is a carer for her father Musa, who has dementia, and she does so almost entirely on her own, as she receives very little support from her brothers and sister. Noor would love to become a head chef in Paris, but as long as she is looking after her father, she has to put that dream on hold. Following the death of a close friend, Musa expresses a wish to return to Morocco. Her brothers and sister eventually agree, and perhaps her father’s return to Morocco will offer Noor the chance to become independent. It looks set to be a lovely road trip, but pent-up frustrations and old wounds soon resurface. It turns into a confrontational journey.
In this family drama, written by the director himself and marking his feature film debut, Abdelkarim El-Fassi tells a story of unspoken conflicts within a family. Resolving these issues proves far from easy. He does so with great restraint and warmth. Starring Ahlaam Teghadouini and Mahjoub Benmoussa.
