Gohan

A little white stray dog with a pink nose lives on the pavement outside a Thai supermarket. One day, Hiro, a Japanese engineer nearing retirement, crosses his path. He takes the dog home and gives him a name: Gohan. A happy time begins for the dog and his owner, but when Hiro dies, Gohan ends up back on the streets and eventually finds himself in an animal shelter. There, he is looked after by Namcha, an undocumented migrant. But she too cannot stay with him and leaves him behind on a train to Bangkok. Stray dog Gohan now lives at the station, where he is often visited by Pelé and Jaidee, a young couple still at university. They look after the dog for four years.

The fact that wonderful feel-good dramas are made in Thailand became clear in 2024 with How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies. And just like that film, Gohan, a moving and heart-warming story about the love between humans and pets, drew full houses in Thailand and elsewhere in Asia.
