The Odyssey
Odysseus, king of the Greek island of Ithaca, has managed to conquer the city of Troy thanks to a cunning ruse. Following that victory, the journey home awaits him, a journey described by the Greek poet Homer in his Odyssey. It proves to be a difficult, dangerous and, above all, very long journey, during which Odysseus faces formidable enemies, sometimes quite literally when he has to do battle with the cyclops Polyphemus. At home, the situation is also precarious, as countless suitors are vying for the hand of his wife Penelope.
This famous story has been adapted for the screen many times; now Christopher Nolan, known for films including Interstellar, Dunkirk and Oppenheimer, has also taken on this epic. And he does so in grand style with an all-star cast: Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Zendaya also make an appearance. Homer wrote the story; Nolan wrote the screenplay.
