Home Sweet Home
Home care worker Sofie visits elderly people who depend on her care every day. Her primary responsibility is their health, but some of her patients also need help with other matters; some simply want a listening ear. She tries to assist everyone as best she can, but it’s not easy: she’s under time pressure, and not all patients are equally cooperative. Her private life isn’t exactly going smoothly either, as she is still struggling with the breakdown of her marriage and the hassle surrounding shared custody of her young daughter.
Director Frelle Petersen wanted to portray the daily life of a home care worker as realistically as possible. To gain a proper understanding of this himself, he spent some time working in home care under the guidance of an experienced colleague. The result is a modestly told, highly authentic story, where the line between fiction and documentary is very thin. Starring Jette Sondergaard in a standout performance.
