"Nothing is banal if you film people with empathy and love," French director Agnès Varda says during this documentary, her 55th film and also her swan song, as she died last March at the age of 90. For Varda, one of the pioneers of the Nouvelle Vague, everything revolved around inspiration, creating and sharing, which she talks about extensively. Her life and films are touched upon, she talks about the many people she collaborated with, she tells about her deceased husband, director Jacques Demy, she explains once more what "cinécriture" is, the language of cinematography, and she gives insight into the different creative periods she has known in her career as a filmmaker, photographer and visual artist.

Varda gives a master class in the art of filmmaking — sometimes in general terms, then again in great detail, illustrating everything with excerpts from her films. As it turns out, Varda is both an entertaining and inspired storyteller.
