Serendipity
Women's bodies are central to much of multidisciplinary artist Prune Nourry's work. Working as an artist-in-residence at the Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn since 2011, Nourry (Paris, 1985) explores issues of gender and fertility in her sculptures, installations, videos, photos, and performances.
While creating her book Serendipity with an overview of her work, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. This naturally had a big impact on her own body. Darren Aronofsky and Angelina Jolie suggested that she record every step in the disease and healing process. And she did. Her journey resulted in a stunning and intimate account of how her body, work, soul, and mind survived, an impassioned plea for the idea that everything is connected, coincidence is an illusion. Ultimately, health, love, and art are the only true essentials to life.
