The Death of Cinema and My Father Too

Having persuaded his parents to appear in his debut feature film, writer and director Dani Rosenberg is shattered when his father becomes critically ill. Originally setting out to make a film of a family’s paranoia of Iranian bombs landing on Tel Aviv, Rosenberg takes us on a highly personal story of his relationship with his father, their love of cinema and his father’s illness. “Although Tel Aviv burns to the ground at the end of the fictional film I tried to make with my father, his real world does not end with a bang, but with a slow, fading crumble,” says Dani Rosenberg.

This cerebral comedy drama is a film about making a film, set within a real-life drama. The actors take on new roles as the stories unfold, helping Rosenberg find his way through the grief of losing his father. It’s multi-faceted and brave, and has already received international recognition, including winning Best Screenplay at London Film Week 2020.
