Bigger Than Us
Melati Wijsen (20), a Dutch-Indonesian national, has been campaigning against plastic pollution for years and with great success; at a young age, she succeeded in making the island of Bali free of plastic bags. Together with Melati, a powerful generation is rising up to restore the world.
This film shows the intriguing journey of Melati, where she meets other young changemakers who are dedicating their lives to a better future. They are committed to human rights, the climate, freedom of expression and access to education and food, among other things - from the favelas of Rio to remote villages in Malawi, on makeshift boats on the coast of the island of Lesbos to Indian ceremonies in the mountains of Colorado. These young changemakers show in an inspiring way that everyone can make a difference for a better world.
Bigger Than Us by director Flore Vasseur, co-produced by Marion Cotillard, was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in a special climate programme.
