Last Wednesday, 27 May, we opened the doors of Rialto Silo for a special neighbourhood open day. Although construction is still in full swing, local residents were able to take a sneak peek at the venue where films will soon be screened.
What is Rialto Silo?
On Zeeburgereiland, in the Sportheldenbuurt neighbourhood, we are working on Rialto Silo: a new cinema with five screens. This will soon be a space for films, as well as for catering, education and other activities. And on the top floor: a roof terrace with views over the city. We will be opening our doors this autumn.
Rialto Silo Neighbourhood Open Day
During the Neighbourhood Open Day, local residents were free to pop in and have a look around the building. We gave guided tours, talked about our plans and engaged with the local community. It was lovely to see how much interest there was.
The reactions were enthusiastic. Many people said they were looking forward to the opening (“we can’t wait”) and to the role Rialto Silo will soon play in the neighbourhood. “Finally, a bit of life close to home,” was a comment we heard time and again.
