Un beau matin
Single mother Sandra (Léa Seydoux) lives with her eight-year-old daughter in a small flat in Paris. In addition to her busy job as an interpreter, she regularly visits her father, a former philosophy professor who suffers from a neurodegenerative disease that makes it impossible for him to live independently. While she and her family are busy packing up his belongings and searching for a suitable care home, she runs into her old friend Clément, with whom she had lost contact. Despite the fact that Clément is in a relationship, the two have an affair and Sandra, after a long time, feels alive again.
Director Mia Hansen-Løve, who most recently made Bergman Island, wrote the screenplay for this Cannes award-winning film herself. She based the story on her experiences with her own father's illness - a story about the strange turns life can sometimes take.
