Le royaume

1995: After the death of her mother, 15-year-old Lesia lives with her aunt in Corsica. She sees her father Pierre-Paule very sporadically, and when she does see him it is always a lot of trouble. She is then picked up by men and taken to a very secret place on the island, as no one is allowed to know where her father is staying. Once there, she and her father are constantly watched over. But this summer things go wrong when one of those men is murdered - a violent power struggle between rival gangs has broken out. Lesia gradually realises what kind of man her father really is and what he does for a living. She loves him, but he is dangerous.

In this feature debut co-written by himself, Corsican director Julien Colonna treats viewers to a compelling and suspenseful mafia drama and combines it with a gripping family drama about a father-daughter relationship. The also debutant Ghjuvanna Benedetti impresses as Lesia.
